Black & Yellow

It's been a long time since I last shared an outfit on my blog. Since then, a lot has happened. I'm currently recovering from my time as a red head with some strawberry blonde locks. It's gotten cold AF. Several tasty new restaurants have opened downtown. I've put up the Christmas tree and I'm getting ready to take it down. I've turned 27, and I'm looking to the New Year with eyes full of fun times and adventure.

Sweet Potato Bread Pudding

This sweet potato bread pudding is the perfect simple dish to serve the next time you really want to WOW your friends and family. It's perfect for Friendsgiving. It's perfect for Thanksgiving at Grandma's house. It's perfect for that festive holiday brunch you're throwing. The best part? Even though this bread pudding takes a little time to make, it takes very little effort and literally no skill. You can do this. You. Can.

Dad's Classic Old Fashioned

If my father is behind the bar at a party or family dinner you will likely find him smiling while muddling a bit of cherry and orange together in a glass. He is always the bartender - whipping up cosmopolitans, Bloody Mary's, or espresso martinis for friends, but nothing does he make with quite as much excitement as he does an Old Fashioned.

Flower Power.

I love this simple outfit because the blue flowers in the top play so well with the color of the denim. The throwback detail at the bottom of these jeans is perfect and really helps to add something extra to a simple look.

Palms & patchwork.

So I've been watching a lot of Arrested Development lately. This skirt gives me serious Lindsay Bluth vibes, and I've decided I'm ok with that - at least for now. I'm only watching season one...

Summer Tomato Tarts

I made these colorful summer tomato tarts using some of my favorite flavors: ripe tomato, feta cheese, and fresh basil. These pastries are light yet filling, fluffy while crispy, and suuuuuuper colorful on your table. They are totally headache free. You can even finish putting your makeup on while they get all toasty in the oven.

Lace + Embroidery. Forever. For always.

Since the beginning of 2017, I have talked a lot about only buying items for my closet that I will always love - or at least that I can always see myself loving. Tops and skirts like this fall into that category. I like what I like. If a bell sleeve is on every shelf or not, the look will always have a place in my heart (many people probably already know that). This handbag is the same. IRL, I carry this bag EVERY DAY.

Creamy Avocado and Lemon Pasta

During the week, when I get home from work, I need meals that are made out of the stuff I always have in my fridge or pantry. For me, that "stuff" is usually a couple of avocados, some lemons, and several half-empty boxes of pasta. Seriously, my pantry is mostly pasta. Isn't yours?

Brooches forever.

I know what you're thinking. "My grandmother wears brooches." Yeah, yeah, yeah. Honestly, during the advent of embellishments, embroidery, and patches it seems like a natural time to appreciate what a nice little collection of brooches can bring to the table. Whether they're vintage or not, sometimes a little extra glitz is exactly what an outfit needs. Full disclosure: these brooches are from my local craft store, but every time I wear them I get SO many compliments. You'd never know they cost less than $10 collectively. I love a look for less.
