I remember by first pair of bellbottoms jeans. I was young, of course. Being a child of the 90s, I spent a major portion of my elementary years being obsessed with the funky styles of the 60s and 70s. I was a hippie for several school events and Halloween nights. I had more than one lava lamp in my room, and the wider the flare on my jeans - the better. Then, as fashion trends changed and my style matured, suddenly, wearing a flare was a faux pas.I traded my bellbottoms in for skinnies and thought there would never be any looking back. What are pleasant surprise in trend to see all cuts of denim making a comeback - including the bellbottom!
I have been into the ‘return of the bellbottom’ for a while now. I always loved wearing pants with a flare, but they simply became unfashionable and impossible to find in stores. For me, the return of trendy pants other than the super skinny jeans is a source of major excitement. If you have a curvy lower half, you know that when it comes to rocking a super skinny jean you have to kill it in the shoe department or your body proportions looks top heavy. The return of the flare means being able to occasionally wear a pant that really flatters my shape. *Praise hands emoji to that.*
I have lusted many times over some amazing, yet pricy, pairs of flares. However, I was’t ready to commit to a nice pair of bellbottom jeans until I knew that the trend would last - but I didn’t want to miss out! So, trusty Target came in clutch for the win. I love these jeans. They are comfortable, with a higher rise in the waist, and are a lovely dark shade of denim. Also, very reasonably priced too, if I might add.
Denim dreams come true.
PS: I want to take a second to say that I am loving so many pieces from the Who What Wear line for Target, such as this striped blouse. The site has been a source of style inspiration for me for some time now, and I love that they created a line of very cool, easy staple pieces with pop for a very accessible brand like Target. Happy hands all day to you Who What Wear. You go.
So fellas, how are you feeling about the flare trend returning? Do you plan to participate?
Until we eat again,
