A hippie at heart.

A hippie at heart.

Once upon a time, summer simply made me think of flowers, sun and dips in the pool. There were no visions in my head of flower crowns, and fringe clad girls lounging on blankets listening the sounds of their favorite bands. There was no “festival season” to me. There was only summer, and the heat, and the waft of honeysuckle in the air.

Everything is different now. There is a new category in my closet. Summer isn’t just about sundresses anymore. It’s about bohemian frocks and bell-sleeved tops that blow in the wind. We are all hippies again. We all just want to be free - and look free while we’re doing it. Let’s be real, we all just want to be Stevie Nicks.

I have always considered myself to have a bit of a bohemian spirit. I did dress up as a hippie twice for Halloween as a kid - but then it was all about whose bellbottoms had the wider flare and how many peace signs you would fit into one outfit. It wasn’t this idea of twig-like fairies with flowers woven into their hair and leather satchels dangling by their sides. It wasn’t about painted skin, or bindis, or mass amounts of rings on your fingers. It’s honestly an attitude. I dig it.

Now, fringe is function and hippie flare is a warm weather norm to most. It is as simple as an accent piece, like this kimono. I like to go for it. Throw a few braids in my hair. Throughly accessorize. Honestly, too much is never enough.

What are your favorite looks for cool, bohemian summer vibes?
