Sometimes being festive is a must - at least in my opinion. I love a good costume party and I love a good holiday. Wearing red, white and blue on July 4 is as necessary to me as the Michelob Ultra that will likely be in my hand all weekend. But lets be real - we don’t all have an American flag dress, scarf or bikini tucked away in our closets waiting for this one special weekend to break free and take our patriotic spirit to the next level. Sometimes we have to be creative...
If you’re like me, you may be looking for ways to get your Uncle Sam on with articles of clothing to already have. My MO this July 4 is all about the neck accessories. I am a huge fan of the neck scarf - and I will likely be rocking a red one beginning Saturday morning. In my closet there are plenty of dresses that are one simple color - several that are red, white or blue. If you want to be festive, but don’t want to buy yourself a whole new patriotic wardrobe, then run down to your local craft store and pick up a classic bandana. Tie it in a chic way (I like the knot in the back, and I tuck in the wings), and pair it with your favorite basic dress. A red or blue bandana adds an instant kick to your favorite white dress, and a little red can take your favorite blue dress to the next level - vice versa.
TIP: If your favorite article of clothing is your chambray top or dress, add that red neck scarf & lip and you are guaranteed to slay this holiday - because denim is always 100.
