Recently, my family and I spent the day wondering around on Lookout Mountain. Lookout is one of the many mountains hugged around Chattanooga and atop it sits a little community filled with beautiful homes, historical sites, a couple of restaurants, and loads of killer views.
We woke up fairly early and enjoyed the drive to the top of the mountain. We made a stop at Point Park first, a place I haven't been since I was a little girl, and strolled around. During the Civil War, Chattanooga was considered the "gateway to the deep south." The mountains here played a big role in the battles, and now the are covered in interesting historical markers. You could walk around for hours taking in the history and appreciating that the Chattanooga area was the venue for a huge turning point in the war. It's nice to know how significant the place you call home is in history.
After a bit, we went for brunch at Cafe on the Corner. Bloodys, Mimosas, and the most delicious miniature cinnamon rolls were had along with extremely satisfying breakfast food including some of the best hashbrowns I've tasted. The patio at this spot is the perfect place for a slow meal and good conversation.
I spent the day in one of my favorite blue sundresses. It is endlessly comfortable and I feel like it is right for any occasion. It took me from a morning walk in the park, to brunch, to the Lookout Mountain Flight Park, and on to afternoon coffee and sweets. I find myself reaching for it in my closet more and more as the summer heats up and I imagine that pattern will continue. When I'm keeping it casual, I like to pair this dress with my favorite simple leather sandals and a belt.
The Lookout Mountain Flight Park is one of my favorite places to go appreciate how beautiful Chattanooga is. Not only are the views here breathtaking, but this is a popular spot for hang gliders to launch. I could watch people taking off all day. It's thrilling. Chattanooga is a very popular destination for all things outdoors, hang gliding included. It's one of the best things about living in a place that's so dynamic. My family and I like to ride up to the flight park from time to time to enjoy the views, watch the launches, and just sit and talk.
After exploring my own city, a bit of caffeine and a spot of sugar were calling my name. We headed down the mountain to find ourselves an afternoon pick-me-up at Rembrandt's Coffee House in the Bluff View Arts District right near my apartment. It's one of my favorite spots in the city - it feels nearly European. My recommendation? A dirty chia latte. Anything from the pastery cabinent is to die for.
Before we went for a latte and a chocolate chip biscotti, I was excited to find a package from Jord Watches in my post box! Jord is a company that makes beautiful, unique wooden watches. I was excited to receive my watch that is made from the most lovely maple wood. It's the perfect neutral tone to go with all of my favorite outfits.

The arts district is the perfect place to stroll around. The Hunter Museum of American Art is nestled there on the bluff along with a couple of other small museums and galleries. The buildings are lovely, there's great food all around, including one of my favorite spots to pick up fresh bread, and you can even find a bocce ball court there.
