Cold Weather Uniform
Streamline your life, and your wardrobe, when you can. This is my advice to you.
Clutter doesn't bring anyone legitimate joy. It weighs us down and frankly makes things more complicated than they have to be. I often have trouble pairing down my closet in the summer. I love bohemian dresses and floral frocks, it's too hard to only have 3 or 4 summer dresses you love. However, in the winter, that's when I do all the purging and bust out my winter basics. (PS: I WISH I could do this in the summer. I always feel great and getting ready is so quick and simple!)
This year, my winter basics include a couple of things. Here's the list:
- Amazing turtle neck bodysuits
- Great black skinny jeans
- An awesome pear of "mom jeans"
- A killer pair of denim bellbottoms
- A warm neutral coat
- Leather booties
Honestly guys, that's pretty much it. I will pull out a few different pieces here and there, but I can always go right back to a couple of simple combinations that make me feel great and I am happy as a clam. Having this type of cold weather wardrobe is perfect for a place like Tennessee where it can be 28°F on day at 75°F the next. This week has been that way. I was walking around in a tank top on Saturday, and today I am back in full winter mode. That's why you need to have cold weather outfits you can reach for again and again at the drop of a hat. Mother Nature, you're so indecisive!
Side note: I am recommending these wardrobe staples because the cuts of these items work well for my body type. If you're a person who can't wear a turtle neck, or who doesn't like a high-rise jean, try using the same concept with cuts of clothing that work for you. For example, amazing v-neck shirts in simple colors instead of turtle necks. It's all about getting a good collection of basics!
Here are a few things I suggest adding to your closet when the cold comes calling. With just a few simple things, you can be ready and warm at the push of a button.
